Location: Central Israel | Position Type: Full-Time (with built-in clinical practice flexibility)


About the Role

MESH Executive Solutions is leading a confidential executive search for a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to provide scientific leadership and drive the research strategy within the Innovation & Research Division at a prominent healthcare organization in Israel.

Leveraging an extensive longitudinal health database and a state-of-the-art Biobank, the CSO will serve as the principal scientific authority—bridging clinical medicine, big data, AI, academia, and the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.

Scientific Strategy & Research Leadership

·        Define and advance the organization's scientific strategy in alignment with long-term organizational objectives.

·        Lead the scientific strategy and oversight of a diverse portfolio of large-scale Real-World Evidence (RWE), epidemiological, clinical, and data-driven research programs leveraging extensive healthcare databases and unique Biobank resources.

·        Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) for selected strategic research initiatives while providing scientific oversight across a broad portfolio of ongoing research programs.

·        Oversee scientific governance, ensuring scientific rigor, clinical relevance, publication excellence, ethical standards, and regulatory compliance across the research portfolio.


Data Science & Research Methodologies

·        Promote advanced research methodologies integrating healthcare data, epidemiology, biostatistics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and advanced analytics.

·        Advance evidence-based medicine through high-quality data-driven research.


Strategic Scientific Collaborations

·        Develop and maintain strategic scientific collaborations with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, technology companies, startups, and research partners in Israel and internationally.

·        Identify opportunities to expand research collaborations and research funding.


Scientific Leadership

·        Provide scientific leadership across multidisciplinary teams operating within a matrix organization.

·        Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, innovation, and professional development.

·        Represent the organization in professional forums, and international scientific conferences

Requirements

Required Experience

·        M.D. degree – Mandatory.

·        Ph.D. in Medicine, Public Health, Epidemiology, Life Sciences, or a related field – Advantage.

·        7–10 years of experience leading healthcare research initiatives, R&D activities, or healthcare research organizations.

·        Proven experience leading Real-World Evidence (RWE), epidemiological, clinical, and other large-scale data-driven healthcare research initiatives.

·        Strong expertise in medical data, epidemiology, biostatistics, and advanced data analysis methodologies.

·        Experience integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) into healthcare research.

·        Experience working with large-scale healthcare databases and Biobank-based research.

·        Demonstrated success building strategic scientific collaborations across academia, healthcare organizations, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, technology companies, and research partners.

·        Strong scientific publication record.

·        Established professional network across healthcare, academia, and industry.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hebrew and English.
